The Solar System to Scale was a gift by the Sandy and Andy Ross Family to provide a sense of the size of our cosmic home and to inspire a sense of wonder and exploration. It has taken a number of years to get this wholely unique scale model installed on campus. There is nothing like it in the world. Designed by Ivan Toth Depeña and manufactured by Ignition Arts, it brings color, wonder, and an interactive experience to walking down the academic and residential corridor of North Campus. It also ties together the passions of Sandy and Andy from the cosmos at the Arne Slettebak Planetarium to the beautiful gardens of Chadwick Arboretum. We will continue to grow this project beyond a set of 10 stations to learn about the planets and continue to add to the educational mission of The Ohio State University.
There are many ways to experience the OSU Model Solar System. Below is a map showing the locations of all the Kiosks down Woodruff Avenue and Woody Hayes Drive.
